Tide commercial
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7Vv0mBd3QU

For some odd reason I always find laundry commercials incredibly interesting. I think by comparing their produce to another company's product, my attention is drawn. I then begin to wonder which is the better product. The intended audience of this specific commercial seems to be messy eaters or even mothers of messy eaters. I would say this because in this commercial it shows a young male character who gets a stain on his shirt. This commercial targets messy eaters because they aren't necessarily going to try this product that evidentially works so well if they don't have stains on their clothing.
  • After watching this commercial, the target audience would hold the opinion that tide is an awesome product that is extremely effective. The company definitely appeals to these opinions because they show their product works by comparing their product to a similar product. The social connotation within the text is that tide can be successful in getting out any stains. The audience would assume this because it gets out a difficult pizza stain, so why wouldn't it be able to get out other difficult stain? In this commercial, the use of color is incredibly important. The audience sees that the stain was completely removed when tide was used. However, when the audience views the other product a stain is still present. The use of colors in this commercial shows that the tide product is effective. The overall purpose of this commercial is to convince the intended audience that the tide product is very effect, so they should switch products and use tide. I think that the commercial is incredibly successful in achieving its goal. I think after watching this commercial I am motivated to try this product and see if the product truly does work. This would encourage me to buy the specific product, which would increase tide's sales.

Date Night

I would say that the audience for this picture is friends and family. I would say this because most photos that we post on social media are for our friends and family. I don't think that this picture would be perceived any differently if it were in black and white. It would not change the audience either. It may cause a more serious perception because black and white photos have that effect. A title could definitely change the audience's perception because the audience now knows that this is my significant other rather than a sibling or friend.

When thinking of college students, most people have very similar thoughts. People have stereotyped college students to be more involved in social activities and less involved in their studies. When most people thinks of college students they think of crazy parties, laying in bed watching netflix all day, going to coffee shops for study groups, hanging out with all of their friends, and trying to find the love of their life. I think that these stereotypes are incredibly hilarious. I don’t have time for half of these events. I would say my college experience is definitely less enjoyable than the stereotypical college students. Rather than doing the normal college activities as I stated above, I spend most of my time in the library studying for tests. When I am not in the library studying, you can find me at work trying to make enough money to pay for college. Even though it might be surprising, most college students do spend time in the library rather than out drinking. I know it’s a crazy thought, but they also have jobs! I chose each picture based on what our parents, friends, society, and bosses think college is like for us. My final two pictures shows what college is actually like for me. I feel like I’m always studying and I’m always trying to balance life like a juggler. Through this assignment I learned how college student stereotypes are not accurate what so ever.
